2 Months of Marriage Under Our Belts

And it shows! Sometimes my cooking certainly isn't the healthiest, and the same goes for our eating out choices! On the night of our two month we went to eat at Jade Garden, a Chinese buffet here in Nampa. And while I can't say that their food was as good as Bing's in Lebanon, it was so much fun to be able to try everything, rather than just getting a plate with one or two items on it. They also have a small stir fry bar where you can watch the chef cook your stir fry concoction. We left absolutely stuffed!
Michael has just been told that he'll be working ten hours days until further notice. He had been coming home around 3:30 or 4:00, which was wonderful, but no more. Now he leaves even earlier and comes home later. Even with the added hours (which count as overtime!!) he won't be as drained as he was at his prior job! This job actually allows him to use his brain and to feel useful!
He was able to get next Monday off (Columbus Day), which is a day I have off of school. So the plan is to ride with Megan Pugh back to Lebanon for the weekend! Woohoo!!!! It'll be so nice to get away from this apartment! Lately our small living quarters have become a hazard for me; either that, or I've become a hazard to them! At least once a day I stub my toe on something. I broke a glass this week, and one night I fell over a shoe on my way to the bathroom. One drawer in my dresser just loves to fall out on my feet, and in my frustrationg I can never get it back in! And the lamp I have attached to the headboard of the bed burned my arm the other night. So far no cooking burns.
We have a praise to share! My supervisor at the shelter is on vacation, but before she left, she mentioned that I may be reimbursed for my work at the shelter! I don't think it is for sure yet, but there's still hope!
Other good news: My speeding ticket from last Thanksgiving has been dropped! Thank you, Dad, for pushing me to get rid of that!
I guess that's all that's going on for now. Please be praying for me as I've been struggling a lot lately with anxiety. Please pray for paitence for Michael as well!

NNU Watersports

Cream or Sugar?

I would like to reiterate the fact that I do NOT enjoy grocery shopping. Things are never very easy to find even if they do put giant directory signs over each aisle. Why is it the one thing I am looking for never falls under one of those categories on those signs? Fruit can easily be found in canned or fresh varieties, but locating the frozen fruit feels like the conclusion of a long and complicated scavenger hunt. In the Nampa Albertson's, the frozen blueberries really are hidden, next to the whipped cream but on only one shelf and too high for this inexperienced newlywed with only 61" of height.

And speaking of whipped cream, why are there at least five different options when shopping for cream? I have had little experience with cream, having never been a coffee or tea drinker. All I've known is whipped cream (or more specifically, Cool Whip, which I'm not even sure if it has real cream in it), ice cream (as in Cold Stone Creamery, yum!) and cream cheese. But apparently there's half & half, creamer, heavy cream, cream, whipping cream, and maybe light cream? I don't know, I just know I was supposed to get heavy cream and got whipping cream instead, which I guess will still work. To make my creamy experience even more of a jungle, the cashier rang up two creams when I actually only purchased one, and she forgot to ring up my Preferred Savings card as well. I did not notice either of these errors until my cream and I along with my other purchases were just leaving the parking lot. So I got to take my cream back in the store and have it re-rung up. As of now, I'm fed up with cream and will delay the recipe another day.

Tonight will be the start of the choir practice season for Karcher Church of the Nazarene. I have been very excited for this ever since I heard about it, but found out this week the choir director is the same man that will be my private voice teacher at NNU, and this little man intimidates me greatly! He's already thrown Mozart, Italian and German at me, expecting me to be able to do something with them! Yikes! Does he not understand that I am not a music major?

I've included some pics of Michael and our friend Forest at the NNU watersport day. Apparently this year it involved soap as well as water. I think the previous years they just used mud as a lubricant. So now I guess it's clean mud? Anyways, they had a lot of fun, and so did I, even if I was just the unoffical photographer. :)
